Chapter 1
Two schoolers who barely knew each other met on a course place. Bram, was starstruck seeing the girl with a giant bandaid on her face, Marvella. The iconic-looking Marvella sat down. Seeing this, Bram took the opportunity to sit closer to her. While there was no introduction on their first few encounters, Bram made the one move that started fate, by nudging Marvella’s leg. Although she thought of him as only poking fun, she shrugged it off with a bit of annoyance. But little did they know, the boy had the girl with a giant bandaid on his mind, while the girl kept the boy who nudged her leg in her thoughts.
Chapter 2
Having spent their high school years together, Bram grew worried if the girl shared the same thoughts and passion. A little birdie told the two that the feeling was, in fact, mutual. But Marvella was almost about to move on. And Bram, knowing the news from the little birdie, knew he had to do something. An obvious setup led to her sitting on a bench, with Bram by her side. As Marvella sat on the bench, tension carried the air. But Bram being Bram, broke through with, “Eh, jadian yuk.”
Chapter 3
Time followed the pair’s university time, hit with different routines. Although the pair went to the same university, Marvella who went to its Faculty of Business and Management had a polar opposite scale of her busyness to Bram who went to the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Legend has it that couples break up often during this time. But Bram and Marvella who were new to this simply did not give up, with the circumstances that were much against them. During this eventful time, they learned how to compromise, and growing up together became a beautiful part of their journey. Destiny didn’t let myth stand between Bram and Marvella.
Chapter 4
As university came to an end, the first job greeted the pair and so did distance. Marvella stayed in Bandung, and Bram traveled to Jakarta, both pursuing their first career move in different cities. The long-distance relationship became another hurdle to overcome, as did the new challenges. But this hurdle was not much of a difficult one. Interestingly enough with this pair, this became a new arc in how they find little joyous moments in the distance and work around it.
Chapter 5
With lots of joy, Marvella greeted Jakarta for her new job. Bram, of course, welcomed her with open arms and many little urban adventures. Although they were still parted by Sunter – Sudirman distance and Jakarta traffic, meeting up would grow one old on the road. But with the two unique minds as one, they turned the tiresome commuting into something fun to look forward to.
Chapter 6
With the pandemic changing lives, Bram moved to his true residence in Bandung while Marvella stayed in Jakarta. The pandemic made people rethink about life priorities and settling down, which brought around “wedding season” at the time. Looking at this opportunity, the pair initially thought of tying the knot then. Bram felt he was lacking the many kinds of preparation for such a rushed wedding plan, plus the distance. But as time passed, they realized that if they had waited for another time to be ready, they would never be ready. Myth did not stand between them again, and destiny greeted them once more.
Chapter 7
On August 21st, 2021, Bram pulled another not-so-magic trick up his sleeves. A tent was placed inside Marvella’s home, and her loved ones were also invited. Bram planned it to be just a day full of Marvella’s favorite things and favorite people. From a botanical garden afternoon trip, a chicken nugget homemade bento with ketchup sauce (Marvella’s favorite meal), to a home full of Marvella’s dearest family and a tent, which Bram crawled inside. As the two enjoyed their cozied-up evening, Bram sat up and asked the question. The question that has brought all of us here right now.
